Sognefjord

Located not far from Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city, Sognefjord (Sognefjord) is 204 kilometers long and 1,300 meters deep, making it the longest and deepest fjord in the world, often referred to as the “King of Fjords.” It includes the Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord tributary fjords; the former faces the picturesque Flåm Valley and the world’s steepest branch railway line — the Flåm Railway, while the latter is a fjord with one of the narrowest waterways in all of Europe.

It is easily accessible by train or other transportation from Oslo or Bergen, making it a popular destination for tourists. There are many attractions within the fjord worth seeing, such as the famous Flåm Railway—one of the world’s great railway achievements—and ferry sightseeing trips that go straight to Gudvangen. Occasionally, wild seals can be spotted from the boats. In summer, there are day-trip tours departing from Bergen, and public transport options are also available during other seasons.
