Bodmer Foundation Museum
Introduction Born in Zurich in 1899, Martin Bodmer had a passion for literature. While studying at the University of Zurich and Heidelberg University, he began collecting a series of literary works that are today recognized as among the world’s ten greatest books.
During World War II, Martin, as the Vice President of the International Red Cross, established libraries for prisoners of war through the organization until 1964.
Martin dedicated his life to the cause of book collecting, leaving behind a rich spiritual legacy for us.
