Patek Philippe is a Geneva-based, long-established European watchmaking brand that leads the watch industry in Europe. It is one of the world’s most renowned and expensive watch brands, with many watch collectors regarding Patek Philippe timepieces as the best in the world. The name Patek Philippe is a combination of two great individuals: Patek was a Polish nobleman who had a lifelong passion for the arts, while Philippe was a French watchmaker with exceptional craftsmanship. The two met by chance in Switzerland and hit it off immediately. Thus, a great watch brand was born over 150 years ago, earning admiration from generations to come.

It was out of a deep passion for horology that Mr. Stern opened the “Temple of Timepieces” — the Patek Philippe Museum — in 2001, now recognized as the most specialized watch museum in the world. Located in a fully restored Art Deco building in Plainpalais, Geneva, the museum houses an exquisite collection of timepieces spanning over four centuries. The exhibits are divided into two major collections: extraordinary antique pieces dating back to the 16th century, including some of the earliest watches ever made, and the Patek Philippe collection from 1839 onward. The latter chronicles more than 165 years of Patek Philippe’s journey in crafting the world’s finest watches, and includes the Caliber 89 — the most complicated pocket watch ever made.
