Glacier Express
The Glacier Express is known as the "slowest sightseeing express train in the world." With a journey of nearly seven and a half hours, it crosses 291 bridges, passes through 91 tunnels, and climbs over the Oberalp Pass (at an altitude of 2033 meters), making it one of Switzerland’s most popular panoramic train routes. It connects two of Europe’s most famous alpine resort destinations, namely Zermatt, St. Moritz, and Chur, Davos, among others.
The entire route is incredibly diverse — from the Rhône River basin that flows into the Mediterranean Sea, to the source of the Rhine River that flows into the North Sea, and then on to the Inn River valley (a tributary of the Danube) that flows into the Black Sea. The entire journey crosses the continental divide of Europe and runs right through the heart of the Alps.
