Kuor is located in the northern part of the canton of Graubünden, on the right bank of the Rhine River. As the capital of the canton, it boasts a history of around 5,000 years, making it the oldest city in Switzerland. The city was once an important pass along key trade routes and a gateway to the Alps, having been successively ruled by the Celts, Romans, Ostrogoths, and Franks.

Kuor is a city of nature, with 50% of its area covered by forests. It also hosts vibrant cultural events and a wide range of shopping options, thanks to its modern urban infrastructure. The Old Town of Kuor is a living testament to history, where you can see 14th–15th-century streetscapes surrounded by stone walls. Markings of “red footprints” and “blue footprints” painted on the ground serve as guides for exploring the historic streets, leading you to discover the city’s rich cultural and artistic heritage. The historic St. Martin’s Church, built in the 8th century, is famous for its stained-glass windows designed by Augusto Giacometti. The Cantonal Art Museum houses numerous artworks, with a focus on paintings and sculptures from the 18th century to the modern era. The Rätisches Museum showcases archaeological finds dating back to the Neolithic Age and introduces a wealth of historical legacies.
