Introduction Lausanne is the city designated by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the father of the modern Olympics, as the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). To continue Coubertin’s mission of spreading the Olympic spirit across the globe, the former IOC President Juan Antonio Samaranch established the world’s only Olympic Museum in Lausanne in 1993.

The Olympic Museum in Lausanne houses and displays over ten thousand precious items from the first Olympic Games in Athens to the present day, making it the world’s largest information center on the Olympic movement. The museum is located on the scenic shores of Lake Geneva, offering an exceptional setting. From its lush gardens or the restaurant balcony, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Lausanne’s beautiful lake and mountain landscapes.

Opening Hours: April 1 – October 31: 9:00–18:00; November 1 – March 31: Tuesdays to Sundays 9:00–18:00, closed Mondays; Closed on January 1, 2, and December 25. Closed at 4:00 PM on December 24 and 31.
