The museum holds ancient manuscripts documenting Lausanne’s history, unearthed stone statues, as well as a scale model recreating the city as it appeared according to 17th-century urban maps. In addition, the museum is also known for its collection of ancient Greek religious icons. It is the best place to quickly learn about the historical development of Lausanne and the canton of Vaud.
