Lausanne is located on the northern shore of Lake Geneva, facing the French town of Évian-les-Bains across the lake. It is the capital of the Swiss canton of Vaud and the district of Lausanne, as well as the fifth-largest city in Switzerland. Like its neighboring Geneva, Lausanne is home to the headquarters of many renowned international organizations, such as the International Olympic Committee, hence it is also known as the “Olympic Capital.”

Lausanne is the second-largest city on Lake Geneva and a vibrant university town with a rich cultural heritage.
