Trani

Trani is a city in the Apulia region of Italy, overlooking the Adriatic Sea. It is an ancient fishing port that was once part of the Province of Bari, but has belonged to the Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani since 2009.

Trani is a fishing port full of historical charm, with a scenic harbor surrounded by numerous urban buildings. The old city walls and many fortresses from the past no longer exist, but the restored 13th-century fortress now serves as a museum, showcasing not only local history but also housing a number of exquisite sculptures and important archaeological finds. The Trani Cathedral, dedicated to St. Nicholas the Pilgrim, along with several grand palaces and a lighthouse in the distance, are all located by the sea, creating a beautiful coastal scene together with the magnificent yachts, simple fishing boats, and hardworking fishermen in the harbor.

It is also an ideal place for leisurely strolls. The fountains in the squares, charming small inns, restaurants serving delicious food, tranquil seaside parks, and various sculptures are all worth visiting.
