Enna is located in the central part of Italy’s Sicily region, serving as the capital of Enna Province. Surrounded by mountains and situated at an elevation of 931 meters above sea level, it is the highest provincial capital in Italy. Known as the “Watchtower of Sicily” and the “Balcony of Sicily.”

Enna has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age, and its long and glorious history has left behind numerous ancient monuments, making it one of the most attractive cities in Sicily. The Castello di Lombardia is the most spectacular building in Enna—massive, imposing, and heavily fortified. It is the most representative structure in Sicily and also one of the most outstanding and oldest ruins in southern Italy. The Enna Cathedral is among the most typical religious buildings in Sicily. Built in the 14th century, its façade is in the Baroque style, while its interior decorative arts include a 15th-century panel painting of the Crucifixion and numerous other paintings.

Pergusa Lake is nestled among the mountains, just 5 kilometers from Enna. It is an ideal spot for birdwatching, especially for migratory species, and also serves as a habitat for various mammals, reptiles, and invertebrates. Near Pergusa Lake, you can also explore archaeological areas dating back to 8000 BCE, making it a great destination for history enthusiasts.
