Former Residence of Zhang XueXuan

The former residence of Zhang XueXuan is located in the courtyard of Zhao XueLian at Gouzi, Shuiyu Village, Miaowan Township, Loufan County, with a construction area of 36 square meters.

Before the Spring Festival in 1942, the Third Prefectural Committee and the Third Administrative Office of Northwest Shanxi held a county and district cadres meeting in Shuiyu Village. Zhang XueXuan, the secretary of the prefectural committee, led the Third Prefectural Committee to stay in Qian'gou. On February 16, the Japanese troops stationed in Gujiao, under the leadership of Captain Yanshan, launched a surprise attack on Shuiyu Village. Unable to break through the encirclement, Zhang XueXuan and over 30 others were captured. While being escorted to Gujiao, Zhang XueXuan managed to escape safely thanks to the cover provided by his comrades. The former residence currently retains the main gate, the main cave dwelling (partially collapsed inside), and the foundation of the house. The cave dwelling is largely well-preserved.

Zhang XueXuan (1907–1963), originally named Zhang XueNian, with the courtesy name RuiLing, was from Kuandian, Liaoning. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1929. After the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan, he went to Taiyuan with the Northern Bureau to work for the Railway Workers' Committee of the Sacrificial League. In 1939, he served as the Organization Minister of the Jingle Prefectural Committee, in 1940 as the Secretary of the Third Prefectural Committee of Northwest Shanxi, and in 1943 as the Deputy Secretary of the Third Prefectural Committee of Jin-Sui and the Secretary of the Jingle Central County Committee. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he held positions such as Secretary and Commissioner of the Tonghua Prefectural Committee of the CPC, Vice Chairman of the Liaoning Provincial Government, Head of a department at the Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, and Vice Chairman of the CPPCC.

Shuiyu Village: Shuiyu Village is bordered by Gujiao to the east, Fenhé Reservoir to the west, Shuangjing Village to the north, and Xiashijiazhuang Village to the south. It has a total population of 555, with 164 households, 87 residents in the village and 498 people living outside. The total land area is 2,024 mu, including 400 mu of woodland, 1,200 mu of terraced fields, and 400 mu of sloping fields.
