Former Residence of Lin Haiqing

The former residence of Lin Haiqing is located at Duan Zhengang’s Courtyard in Fenglingdi Village, Jingyou Town, Loufan County, with a construction area of 128 square meters.

In 1943, the 2nd Regiment of the Central Hebei Garrison Brigade campaigned in northwest Shanxi, was reorganized into the 2nd Battalion of the 8th Sub-district of the Jin-Sui Military Region, and took over the garrison duties in the Loufan area from the 7th Regiment of the 358th Brigade. Lin Haiqing, commander of the 2nd Regiment of the Garrison Brigade, was reassigned as battalion commander. Starting in August 1944, under the command of Lin Haiqing, the 2nd Battalion and Loufan militia besieged the Japanese puppet troops entrenched in Loufan Town for eight months, eventually liberating the town. In August 1945, Lin Haiqing led the 2nd Battalion to Yangqu. During his time in Loufan, Lin Haiqing married Duan Xiaolan, a local girl from Fenglingdi Village, and once lived in this residence. The former residence consists of three adobe cave dwellings with brick facades and one cave dwelling with a stone entrance. It was renovated after the founding of the People's Republic of China and remains well-preserved.

Lin Haiqing (1913–1993) was from Pingjiang, Hunan. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1932. During the War of Resistance against Japan, he served as commander of the Hebei Special Service Regiment, commander of the 2nd Regiment of the Central Hebei Garrison Brigade, and commander of the 2nd Battalion of the 8th Sub-district of the Jin-Sui Military Region. In 1943, he led his troops from Central Hebei to campaign in northwest Shanxi. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as commander of the 10th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, deputy commander of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and vice-chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
