Saint-Dié-des-Vosges is a commune in the Vosges department of the Grand Est region in northeastern France. It is also the subprefecture of the department, located 80 kilometers southeast of Nancy in the Vosges Mountains. The town is also known as the “World Capital of Geography” and is home to the University of Technology of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges.

The International Geography Festival (Festival international de géographie) was first held in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges in 1990 with the aim of promoting advancements in geographical science research. Since then, it has taken place annually. During the festival, a wide range of exciting activities are organized around a featured guest country, including seminars, geographic information exhibitions, book fairs, food festivals, art exhibits, and performances, attracting geography enthusiasts and tourists from around the world.

In addition, visitors can explore the Saint-Dié-des-Vosges Cathedral, the Le Corbusier Pavilion, museums, the Ocean Center, and cultural heritage sites that blend various architectural styles.
