Le Ban-Saint-Martin

Le Ban-Saint-Martin is a commune in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region in northeastern France. It belongs to the arrondissement of Metz-Campagne and the canton of Woippy. Although not very large, it remains picturesque and is home to one of the campuses of the École des Affaires Sociales et du Travail de Lorraine.

The Bismarck Tower in Le Ban-Saint-Martin was erected in honor of the “Iron Chancellor” Otto von Bismarck. It is located on Mont Saint-Quentin, which offers panoramic views over the Moselle Valley. At 358 meters high, the hill has historically played an important military role, serving as a key vantage point for observing and protecting the town below. There are more than 240 Bismarck Towers around the world, but this is the only one situated in France. In addition to the tower, visitors can also explore the Holy Cross Church, Roman ruins, and the Château La Salle.
