Yutz

Yutz

Yutz is a commune in the Moselle department of the Grand Est region in northeastern France. Established in 1971, it belongs to the arrondissement of Thionville and the canton of Yutz, near the borders of Germany and Luxembourg. It is situated on the banks of the Moselle River and is the site where the Basse Yutz Flagons were discovered.

Yutz boasts numerous religious buildings. The Church of the Holy Cross is a prime example of 1930s creative architecture and is remarkably elegant. The Church of Saint Nicholas was rebuilt in 1571 but unfortunately has been destroyed multiple times. The current church, constructed in 1958, is the largest contemporary religious building in the Lorraine region. Other sites worth visiting include the Saint Nicholas sculpture, the Church of Saint Joseph built in 1963, the temple opened in 1929, and the mosque located in the old town.
