Châtellerault is a commune in the Vienne department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in France, located in northern Poitou. Historically a fortress town, Châtellerault is now the sub-prefecture of the Vienne department and an important economic and administrative center.

Châtellerault is a popular tourist destination, home to many historical sites, including the Henri IV Bridge built in 1611, ancient castles, and the Church of Saint-Jacques. The 16th-century Descartes House is one of the most iconic buildings in Châtellerault, where the famous French mathematician René Descartes lived during his childhood. Other must-visit attractions include the interesting Museum of Cars, Motorcycles, and Bicycles, as well as the Sully Museum, which houses a collection of ceramics and weapons from the 17th to 19th centuries.
