Rouen is located in northwestern France and is the capital of the Upper Normandy region. Historically, it was one of the largest and most prosperous cities in medieval Europe. The city is known as the “City of a Hundred Spires” due to its numerous church bells, and each hour of the day reveals a different hue and mood, amazing every visitor with its ever-changing charm.

Rouen is famed for Rouen Cathedral, the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Rouen. This exquisite Gothic structure inspired Impressionist painter Claude Monet to create over thirty versions of "Rouen Cathedral." The construction of the cathedral spanned several centuries, thus showcasing various styles including Early Gothic, High Gothic, and the Flamboyant Gothic of the late period. Its spire reaches a height of 151 meters, making it the tallest in the world from 1876 to 1880 and still the tallest church spire in France today. The Great Clock is another notable historic landmark in Rouen. This astronomical clock, made in 1389, is installed above a Renaissance-style arch spanning the Rue du Gros-Horloge and is classified as a French historical monument.
