Former Site of the NanYu Reorganization

The Former Site of the NanYu Reorganization is located in the courtyard of villager Li Qize in NanYu Village, Gaizhuang Township, Loufan County, covering a construction area of 154 square meters.

In November 1940, the 120th Division was ordered to form the Shanxi–Northwestern Military District. After returning to Shanxi–Northwest, the 358th Brigade had not been able to rest or receive reinforcements due to continuous combat, resulting in significant personnel losses. The 120th Division issued an order to reorganize the 7th and 8th Regiments of the Independent Third Detachment into a single regiment, which would be incorporated into the 358th Brigade. A reorganization meeting was held in NanYu Village, during which it was decided to retain the 7th Regiment and disband the 8th Regiment, while continuing to use the 8th Regiment’s designation after the reorganization. The reorganized 8th Regiment featured a streamlined command structure, well-staffed companies, high morale, and further enhanced combat effectiveness. The site currently preserves three well-maintained western-style cave dwellings.

NanYu Village: NanYu Village is located in the western part of Gaizhuang Township, 17 kilometers from the county seat. The village currently has 175 households, a population of 786, 34 Party members, a total land area of 2,754.7 mu, and cultivated land of 1,792.3 mu, averaging 2.39 mu per person. In 2009, the per capita rural income of the village was 2,464 yuan.
