Former Site of the Office of the Third Special Administrative Region of Northwestern Shanxi

The former site of the office of the Third Special Administrative Region of Northwestern Shanxi is located in the courtyard of Zhang Guangzhi in Genjidajie, Shuiyu Village, Miaowan Township, Loufan County, covering a building area of 257 square meters.

In early 1942, the Third Regional Committee and the Third Special Administrative Region of Northwestern Shanxi held a working conference in Shuiyu Village. The offices of the Third Regional Committee and the Third Special Administrative Region were stationed in the front and back valleys of Shuiyu Village. Zhang Xuexuan and Cui Yisheng led the Third Regional Committee in the front valley, while Liu Yongru and others led the Third Special Administrative Region in the back valley. On February 16, Japanese troops stationed in Gujiao launched a surprise attack on the locations of the Third Regional Committee and the Third Special Administrative Region. Commissioner Liu Yongru and most comrades stationed in the back valley successfully escaped by jumping across the gully and cliffs. The original site had three cave dwellings, two east rooms, and three south rooms, of which the two east rooms and three south rooms have collapsed, while the three cave dwellings remain well-preserved.

Shuiyu Village: Shuiyu Village is bordered by Gujiao to the east, Fenhé Reservoir to the west, Shuangjing Village to the north, and Xiashijiazhuang Village to the south. It has a total population of 555 people, comprising 164 households, with 87 residents living in the village and 498 people living away. The village covers a total land area of 2,024 mu, including 400 mu of woodland, 1,200 mu of terraced fields, and 400 mu of sloping fields. There are 14 cattle, 200 chickens, 2 donkeys, 1 small four-wheel vehicle, and 3 hand tractors.
