Former Site of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Two-Level School

The former site of the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Two-Level School is located in the Zhang Haobao Courtyard, Xiling Village, Loufan Town, Loufan County, with a construction area of 204 square meters. After the establishment of the Anti-Japanese Democratic Government of Jingle County in Loufan in 1940, the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Two-Level School was founded, with Feng Lianshan serving as the principal. The school's mission was to provide education, promote anti-Japanese resistance, and engage in productive labor. The school had no fixed facilities and operated in guerrilla style—wherever it went, it would co-run classes with the local village school, or if no school existed, it would borrow villagers’ homes as classrooms. In the spring of 1942, the school moved to Xiling Village along with the county government. During an anti-Japanese propaganda event, the school was suddenly attacked by Japanese forces. Principal Feng Lianshan and the teachers, facing enemy shelling, led the students to safety in Luojiaqu. Upon arriving in Luojiaqu, classes resumed as usual. In the same year, after the Japanese occupied Loufan, the No. 2 High School of Loufan relocated outside the town and merged with the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Two-Level School, with Li Youkui appointed as the new principal. Initially, two primary schools were established in Maxiazhuang and Xingwangzhuang, and later the two-level school centered its activities around Tianchichuan, moving successively through Sanyuan Village, Yingluogou, Madaogou, Baidao, Xiling Village, and Luojiaqu, before finally settling in Hanjiagou. In the autumn of 1943, Lin Ye took over as principal. From May to August 1944, the school was ordered by the Jin-Sui Eighth Sub-prefecture to merge with the Jiaocheng County Primary School for joint classes. After the liberation of Loufan in 1945, the school returned to Loufan and became the No. 2 Loufan Primary School. During the Anti-Japanese War, the Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Two-Level School trained nearly a thousand students and supplied a significant number of talents to the anti-Japanese base areas. The former school site in Xiling Village consists of adobe cave dwellings, with the central cave being 12 meters deep and 5 meters wide, and the other two caves 4 meters deep and 3 meters wide.
