Luochi Canal Massacre Site

The Luochi Canal Massacre Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Luochi Canal Massacre Site is located to the west of Luochi Canal Village, Dongyu Town, Qingxu County, covering an area of 1,300 square meters. From 1938 to 1939, Luochi Canal Village served as the site of the Qingtai-Xu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government. In May 1939, Japanese troops stationed in Qingyuan County attacked the Qingtai-Xu Anti-Japanese Democratic Government and killed over thirty civilians and officials, including five members of the Wu Genquan family, on the village’s threshing ground. They also burned more than ten houses, stole over 100 sheep, and 15 large livestock. Later, the Japanese army carried out six more massacres in Luochi Canal, killing a total of over eighty officials and civilians across seven incidents, burning more than 300 houses, and stealing over 50 large livestock, creating the horrifying Luochi Canal Massacre. To commemorate those killed by the Japanese army, the villagers of Luochi Canal Village in Dongyu Town plan to erect a monument at the original massacre site.
