Varadero is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, known for its stunning seascape that combines ocean, sand, sunshine, and blue hues. It is also a renowned tropical resort destination in Cuba. Visitors to Cuba often say, “You haven’t truly seen the beauty of Cuba until you’ve been to Varadero.” The blue skies, white clouds, crystal-clear turquoise waters, gently sloping fine white sandy beaches, and soft white grains that seem to slip through your fingers even when tightly gripped, along with the refreshing sea breeze that soothes the tropical sun’s heat—all make the sleep of any leisure traveler sweeter... Varadero is famed for its blue beaches. On the shore, visitors lounge or sit, soaking up the sun and caressed by the gentle sea breeze. In the water, people swim or play, often with fish and shrimp swimming right by their feet—an abundance of delightful surprises that make it hard to leave the sea and come ashore...

The beaches here are suitable for swimming all year round. Even non-swimmers can enjoy the sea’s gifts, as the water only reaches waist-deep even when you venture quite far out. Moreover, the beach boasts natural attractions: caves, lakes, islets, archaeological sites, diving spots, therapeutic mud flats, and fine hot sands, as well as a beautiful underwater coral world and unique marine life, along with locally rare flora and fauna... One of the most important archaeological sites is the Ambrosio Cave, where hieroglyphs can still be found on the cave walls. In the early 20th century, the first Americans came to Varadero for tourism. Today, the DuPont villas from that era are among Varadero’s most alluring sites. From the observation decks of these villas, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views. Some come here to get married or honeymoon... Others can tour the villas and the once-famous moats of that time. Varadero’s tourism industry is built around first-line modern, luxurious, and comfortable hotels with top-notch infrastructure, as well as a wide range of entertainment activities, including dining, seaside scenery, nightlife venues, water sports, horseback riding, carriage rides, and even submarine dives. Water activities hold endless special charm. Varadero has several diving clubs and marine clubs. Chape Beach offers guided tours to different islets, visits to zoos, flamingo habitats, otters, crocodiles, and other fascinating animal homes. Especially enticing are the Underwater Varadero 1 and Magic World submarines. The former is a boat where you can stroll on the deck to enjoy sea views or observe the underwater world through a submerged periscope while guides explain what you see. At the eastern tip of the peninsula, the Península de Hicacos Ecological Reserve is home to a giant cactus over 500 years old, affectionately called “Grandpa Cactus.”

Varadero lives up to its reputation as a prime Cuban tourist destination. With 120 kilometers of beaches, bathing areas, fine white sands, and clear blue waters, along with azure skies, picturesque landscapes, abundant sunshine, and iodine-rich air, it is often called the “Earthly Eden.” Today, Varadero features 8 kilometers of bathing beaches, 9 large hotels, and 13 villa villages. The Yumurí River Valley resembles a naturally formed semi-circular open-air amphitheater, backed by 150-meter-high hills, and is considered one of the most impressive sights by many. The Yumurí and Bacunayagua rivers flow through the area, offering a pleasant climate, lush vegetation, and serene scenery—perfect for relaxation and escaping the stress of modern life, as well as beneficial for treating asthma, obesity, and high blood pressure, making it an ideal destination for older travelers.

Matanzas, known for the shape of its bridges, is called the “Sleeping Beauty,” the “Venice of Cuba,” and also the “Athens of Cuba” because it is a cradle of poets. The Montemar Natural Grand Park is another tourist destination, located on the Zapata Peninsula in the south: endless blue beaches, exotic forests, murmuring rivers, sparkling lakes, submerged caves, typical prairies on marshlands, natural swimming pools, and a colorful underwater world... Visitors can come here to watch various birds, go hunting, photography, diving, take boat tours, and engage in marine and land sports... It’s a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and find tranquility and purification, relaxation, and rest... The main dishes in the resort area are fish and seafood, such as those served at restaurants like Calleta, Buena Vista, and Fish Cave. When night falls, you can visit discos or bars like the Quijón Beach Hotel Bar or the Long Beach Lookout Bar for entertainment.
