Finca Vigía

Finca Vigía was the home of Ernest Hemingway in Havana, the capital of Cuba. Built in 1886, Hemingway lived here from 1939 to 1960, initially renting the property before eventually purchasing it. It now operates as a museum open to the public.

It was at Finca Vigía that Hemingway wrote his timeless classics *The Old Man and the Sea* and *For Whom the Bell Tolls*, which brought him great fame afterward. The property was designed by a Spanish architect and is a large house complete with a swimming pool, tennis court, and several acres of mango groves. Hemingway lived here for over 20 years—the most prolific, colorful, and final chapter of his life. Visitors can explore his living room, bedroom, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, two studies, and the bedrooms of his children. The garden features a swimming pool with a changing room, and the yacht Hemingway used for his sea adventures is also preserved here in excellent condition.

This former residence of Hemingway was opened to the public in 2007 and has been transformed into a museum, housing a vast collection of books, manuscripts, and other items belonging to the famed American writer. The home remains just as it was when Hemingway left it.
