Alberta Art Gallery
The Alberta Art Gallery is located in the downtown area of Edmonton, the capital city of Alberta, Canada. It is a public art museum in the region. Established in 1924, it is the oldest cultural and arts institution in Alberta.
The Alberta Art Gallery boasts a collection of over 6,000 pieces of classical and modern artworks in various forms, primarily featuring historical and contemporary paintings, sculptures, installation art, as well as numerous valuable photographs by artists from Canada and around the world. It is regarded as a hub for visual art masterpieces in Western Canada, forging a strong connection between people, art, and imagination. The gallery hosts a variety of art exhibitions throughout the year and regularly organizes lectures and touring exhibitions, providing comprehensive art education for visitors.
The most recent renovation of the Alberta Art Gallery was designed by Los Angeles-based architect Randall Stout. Covering an area of 7,900 square meters, it reopened to the public in early 2010. Its distinctive exterior is highly eye-catching. The newly revamped gallery features three main exhibition floors, as well as the Edmonton Terrace, the Singhmar Centre for Art Education, Zinc Restaurant, the Alberta Art Gallery Gift Shop, the Ledcor Theatre, and an art rental and sales gallery. The gallery is closed on Mondays.
