New City Hall

Introduction

New City Hall was built in 1965 and is located in the city center. Its shape resembles a shell, consisting of two curved buildings that enclose an arched City Council chamber in the middle. The entire building was designed by Finnish architect Viljo Revell. It represents the history and growth of Toronto. Of the two towers, the one on the east side has 27 floors, and the one on the west side has 20 floors. The 27th floor of the east tower features an observation deck. In front of New City Hall lies Nathan Phillips Square, a pedestrian plaza with a large reflecting pool that mirrors the unique architecture of the building.  Transportation
