Ontario Place

Ontario Place is located in Toronto and is a multifunctional seasonal amusement park designed by architect Eberhard Zeidler. It was built at a cost of 29 million Canadian dollars, with construction starting on March 17, 1969, and opening on May 22, 1971. It has been popular among both domestic and international visitors.

Ontario Place is a family-friendly entertainment hub offering a wide variety of attractions, including the world’s first permanent IMAX theatre — the Cinesphere, a water park, wilderness adventure log flumes, a kids’ “driving school,” private event and banquet venues, and more. The water park is only open from May to October each year, but the IMAX theatre and private event spaces remain accessible year-round.

On February 1, 2012, the Ontario government announced a redevelopment and renovation plan for Ontario Place. Most of the facilities within the park were closed, including the IMAX theatre and the water park, while outdoor music venue Molson Amphitheatre, private event spaces, the marina, and parking lots remained open to the public. The renovated Ontario Place is expected to emerge with a fresh new look and enhanced appeal.
