Thatbyinnyu Temple

Thatbyinnyu Temple is the tallest temple in Bagan, standing at 67 meters high with seven terraces. The building’s façade consists of two massive overlapping cubic structures. The temple, a white stucco structure meaning "Omniscience," was built by King Alaungsithu (1113–1163). It houses a large brick Buddha statue, and its walls are inscribed with famous Pali verse carvings, earning it the reputation of being a “temple among temples.” There are passages inside that spiral up to the seventh terrace, but all staircases are now sealed and off-limits to visitors.
