Introduction In 1997, archaeologists discovered the Temple of Milqart in Pella, which dates back over 3,600 years. This temple, measuring 29 meters in length and 22 meters in width with four floors, is the largest known temple structure from the Bronze and Iron Ages to date. From approximately 1650 BC to 850 BC, the Temple of Milqart was in continuous use for 800 years. During this time, local inhabitants transitioned from polytheistic beliefs of the Bronze Age to monotheistic worship during the Iron Age. The temple was destroyed and rebuilt in each period, leaving behind rich artifacts such as idols and sanctuaries, making the Temple of Milqart a fossil of the region's religious history.
