Hussein Park

Hussein Park is a public park located near the Hussein Medical City in Amman, covering an area of 700 dunums (657,510 square meters, equivalent to 65.75 hectares or 986.265 Chinese mu). The park is currently under construction and is being developed into a landmark site for Amman. It mainly includes an ethnic cultural village, sports fields, commemorative structures, a mosque, a library, decorative gardens, an open-air amphitheater, an automotive museum, and the Jordan Children’s Museum.

The Hussein National Park began construction in February 2000 to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of the late King Hussein of Jordan. The Chinese government donated 450 seedlings of juniper trees to the park, and the Beijing Municipal Government contributed a 200-square-meter Chinese landscape. The king attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the park on February 7, 2000. In 2002, Beijing completed the construction of the "Chinese Garden" within the park, covering an area of about 200 square meters, featuring elements such as a sundial, an octagonal pavilion, and a traditional Chinese stone memorial pillar.

One of the most attractive features in Hussein Park is a garden landscape situated on a hillside, spanning approximately 70 acres (28,000 square meters). The garden is dotted with clear lakes, a variety of plants and trees, terraced rock-cut tombs, pavilions, sand dunes, and representative buildings from different historical periods. The park’s ethnic cultural village is a plaza surrounded by shops selling Jordanian handicrafts, primarily aimed at showcasing Jordanian cultural heritage to locals and tourists alike. Additionally, there are several other distinctive areas worth visiting throughout the park.
