The Statue of the Virgin Mary is a renowned Christian pilgrimage destination in Lebanon. Constructed in 1907, it is situated on a mountain roughly 20 kilometers north of Beirut, overlooking Jounieh Bay—the most beautiful bay in the world. The mountain, home to the iconic statue, is habitually called Mount Saint Mary and rises over 600 meters above sea level. Visitors can reach the top either by taking a scenic cable car from the base town of Jounieh or by driving up the winding mountain road.

The Statue of the Virgin Mary stands 8.5 meters tall and weighs 15 tons, painted entirely white. Its base houses a small chapel, and visitors can climb to the top via a spiral staircase. From the summit, the picturesque town of Jounieh and the surrounding Jounieh Bay unfold before your eyes, offering breathtaking views. The Virgin Mary is depicted with outstretched arms and a gentle smile—perhaps welcoming Christian pilgrims or travelers from around the world. At night, the gleaming white statue shines even more brilliantly under the lights, leaving a lasting impression on all who see it.
