　 Introduction: Sibu is the second-largest city in Sarawak, located along the Rajang River. It is a vibrant port city. A distinctive feature of Sibu is the large number of churches, which outnumber mosques and Buddhist temples. The urban area has a crisscrossing road network and can be quite congested. On the Central Avenue in the city center, there are many eateries and shopping malls. The market near the junction of High Street and Market Road operates around the clock. Major attractions in Sibu include the seven-story Guanyin Pagoda, the Rajang Esplanade, and the Jubilee Park. Sibu also offers tours to visit Iban longhouses. Through local tour operators, visitors can join group tours to the longhouses, traveling there by Iban “express boats.” Dining / Accommodation / Shopping: Sibu has numerous economical cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong-style diners) where meals are very affordable—just a few ringgit per dish—and menus are printed in Malay and Chinese. Accommodation: There are many guesthouses in Sibu, most of them run by Chinese. Prices are generally lower than in Kuching, with standard twin rooms often available for just over 100 Malaysian ringgit. Transportation: There are flights and buses to Sibu from Kuching, Bintulu, Kota Kinabalu (the capital of Sabah), Kuala Lumpur, and other locations. There are also regular passenger ferries between Kuching and Sibu.
