Mount Santubong is located in the northern part of Kuching, about 35 kilometers from the city. On clear days, its beautiful silhouette can be seen from Kuching. Mount Santubong and its surrounding area are a well-known tourist destination.

There is also a touching legend about Mount Santubong. There were two beautiful princesses, Princess Santubong and Princess Sejinjang. But one day they quarreled and began fighting each other. The king was so angry that he banished them to the mountain. Since then, Princess Santubong became Mount Santubong, and Princess Sejinjang became Mount Sejinjang.

Mount Santubong is 810 meters high, and it takes about three to four hours to climb to the summit. However, because the peak is quite steep, descending is not as easy. Since the hike takes a long time, it’s a good idea to eat something beforehand to maintain your energy.
