Mount Gading National Park

Mount Gading National Park is located in the western part of Sarawak, covering an area of approximately 4,101 hectares, and is renowned for the world’s only giant Rafflesia flower. The Rafflesia can grow up to one metre in diameter and is a parasitic plant. Since it has no leaves or stems, it must parasitize on liana vines. It has no fixed blooming season; the flower takes nine months to develop but blooms for just five days.

Mount Gading National Park features beaches, waterfalls, and tropical rainforests, with its waterfalls being one of the major attractions for visitors. In addition, the park is home to many animals, including civets, wild boars, deer, porcupines, monkeys, and squirrels. As the park is surrounded by villages, most animals live in the jungle or mountains, so spotting them is not easy and requires some trekking through rugged terrain.
