Gaya Island

The name Gaya Island originates from the Bajau language word "gayo," meaning "big." As the name suggests, Gaya Island is indeed the largest island in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, stretching sixteen miles and featuring a coastline of white sandy beaches, pebble shores, muddy flats, mangroves, and sandstone cliffs.

Covered in rainforest, Gaya Island boasts rich biodiversity, where the famous hornbills can often be seen flying and hopping among the branches. In the area around Police Bay, shimmering shallows slope gently into the bay, creating a perfect spot for swimming and snorkeling. The coral reefs surrounding the entire island are also exceptionally well-preserved.

There are two eco-friendly resorts on Gaya Island: Gayana Eco-Resort and Bunga Raya Resort. Both offer comprehensive facilities and excellent conditions, making them ideal holiday destinations.
