Covering an area of 438 square kilometers, the Danum Valley Conservation Area is a naturally rich lowland tropical forest. It is Malaysia’s largest expanse of pristine lowland rainforest and one of the most complex ecosystem reserves in the world. Prior to its establishment as a protected area, it remained virtually untouched and maintained its most pristine state, turning it into a true wilderness.

The conservation area was established to protect the region’s flora and fauna. It is home to 120 species of mammals, including 10 species of primates, 40 species of fish, as well as over 300 species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, butterflies, and thousands of insects, worms, mollusks, and other invertebrates. The Danum Valley Conservation Area is an ideal destination for nature exploration. Jungle trekking, wildlife photography, and birdwatching are among the most popular activities here.
