Tabin Wildlife Reserve is located in Sabah, 40 kilometers from Lahad Datu, and is an important nature reserve in Malaysia. Established in 1984, it covers an area of 1,225 square kilometers and was created to protect Malaysia’s vanishing wildlife. It attracts numerous visitors every year.

The Tabin Wildlife Reserve features dense forests that provide favorable conditions for wildlife survival and habitation. The reserve plays a crucial role in nurturing wildlife and protecting mammal species. Visitors can experience the thrill and joy of wild adventures in a unique way, and have the chance to see Sabah’s three largest mammals: the Borneo pygmy elephant, Sumatran rhinoceros, and banteng. The rare Banteng is also frequently spotted here. In addition, you may encounter sambar deer, orangutans, civets, proboscis monkeys, crested serpent eagles, bearded pigs, pythons, and more.

Even if you don’t spot these exotic animals, swimming in the cool Lipad River at dusk or rolling in the mud at the Lipad Volcanic Mud Volcano is a great experience. Many believe the volcanic mud here has anti-aging and skin-beautifying properties, and some even bottle a few to take home as gifts.
