Mataking Island is located in Sabah, Malaysia, to the north of Mabul Island. One of its distinctive features is the beautifully diverse coral formations. Moreover, it serves as a paradise for many species of sea cows and frogfish, making it one of the best islands in Malaysia for diving and marine life observation.

In 2003, Mataking Resort placed the first artificial coral reef known as the “Underwater Post Office,” creating a new home for countless live corals and marine creatures. This first-ever underwater post office in Malaysia is a 40-foot wooden cargo ship where divers can place sealed mail into a specially designed vacuum mailbox and send it from the seabed to their intended recipients.
