Kampong Gambusao – Beekeeping Farm

Kampong Gambusao is located in Madonggong, about 43 kilometers south of Kota Belud in Sabah, and is a well-known beekeeping village in Malaysia. It is famous for bee farming and the sale of bee products. To learn more about beekeeping, visitors should check out the beekeeping farm in the village.

The beekeeping farm was established in 1991 and houses over 100 beehives. It not only generates income for locals but also serves as an ecotourism destination, allowing more people to learn about beekeeping. Visitors can observe how the entire farm is managed, how bees work, and the whole process of local beekeepers using smoke to drive away bees, extract honey, and bottle it for sale. Additionally, they can taste pure, natural honey directly from the hives. The farm also has several rubber trees planted, so besides observing bees, visitors can also watch how rubber is tapped and processed through the rubber rolling process.
