Taiyuan Food Street

Taiyuan Food Street is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Taiyuan Food Street stretches 552 meters from Fudong Street in the north to Zhonglou Street in the south, with a width of 10 meters. It has been a commercial hub of Taiyuan since the Song Dynasty. Starting in 2012, the street underwent a comprehensive renovation, featuring an all-round design of pavement, urban furniture, building facades, nighttime lighting, and green landscaping. The main road is paved with bluestone slabs, while the sidewalks use thick blue bricks in a herringbone pattern with stone edging. All building facades have been restored to their original Ming and Qing dynasty architectural styles, featuring wooden windows, blue brick walls, and bluestone-paved paths. Bronze sculptures highlighting Shanxi’s culinary culture, paired with vintage-style urban furniture, create a cohesive streetscape. The classic Ming and Qing architectural style infuses the entire street with cultural charm. A parking lot accommodating over 400 vehicles has been built, and all types of communication cables are readily available. The entire district now radiates an elegant, rustic vitality, transforming into a distinctive leisure destination that combines dining, sightseeing, and relaxation. The food street offers a diverse range of cuisines: the northern section features specialty local flavors, the central area is home to trendy bars and Western restaurants, and the southern part showcases authentic Shanxi specialties. Taiyuan Food Street has significantly enhanced the city’s image as a vibrant, harmonious, and attractive modern metropolis, truly becoming a new epicenter for gourmet dining.
