Whanki Museum

The Whanki Museum is located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and is a private museum established in 1978 to collect and display the works of Western-style painter Kim Whanki. Kim Whanki was a renowned abstract artist in Korean history, known for creating artworks that express Korean sensibilities.

Kim Whanki’s works are world-famous for their harmonious and complementary elements, evoking imagination, contemplation, and delight. His paintings now hold significant appreciation potential and are highly collectible. The Whanki Museum also features a variety of exhibits by other artists, primarily showcasing works by young painters. Among them, the eye-catching pieces include beautiful landscape paintings of Inwangsan Mountain—scenes so stunning they inspire awe, applause, and deep emotion. The museum’s first floor also houses a café and an art shop, where you can find scarves, ties, and sets of glassware created using Kim Whanki’s artistic techniques. The museum is open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, but closed on Mondays, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving Day.
