Toei Kyoto Studio Park, also known as "Toei Kyoto Studios," officially opened in 1875. Covering an area of 36,000 square feet, it is a movie-themed theme park and also serves as the filming location for Toei's period dramas.

Toei Kyoto Studio Park is the only theme park in Japan where visitors can experience the behind-the-scenes atmosphere of a film set. It is also the dedicated Edo-period backlot of Toei Kyoto Studios and is highly favored by tourists. The park not only preserves all the film and TV works produced by Toei but also shoots nearly 200 TV dramas annually. In addition to sets featuring Edo-period and Meiji-period streets, samurai residences, Nihonbashi Bridge, and the Yoshiwara pleasure quarters, the park also includes the "Movie Culture Hall" that introduces Japanese film history and culture, the "Outdoor Filming Studio" explaining special effects techniques, the "Terakoya" that teaches about Edo-period life in the style of a traditional school, and the "Costume Experience Hall" where visitors can dress up as characters from period dramas such as geisha and samurai. Here, you can enjoy exciting ninja shows and also try on costumes to dress as geisha, ninjas, or samurai in the Costume Experience Hall, taking commemorative photos as souvenirs.

Toei Kyoto Studio Park regularly stages period drama action performances and also holds promotional events when certain period dramas are released, such as handshake events and exhibitions of film costumes and props. Additionally, as the main filming site for Toei's period dramas, visitors may even have the chance to witness actual filming in progress.
