Introduction

Umeda in Osaka’s Kita Ward is the city's economic hub. Osaka Station is located here. As a large integrated railway station, it serves as a major transportation junction where JR lines, Hankyu lines, Hanshin lines, and three subway lines converge. The surrounding area, revitalized by the redevelopment of department stores and the textile wholesale district, is filled with towering skyscrapers and is a hub for companies, banks, hotels, and more. Corresponding to the “South” centered around Namba and Shinsaibashi, Umeda is known as the “North.” Bustling with people all day long, it has become a major commercial district.
