Nakanoshima Park

Nakanoshima Park is situated on the Nakanoshima islet between the Dojima River and the Tosabori River in Osaka. Established in the 24th year of the Meiji era (1891), it was the first park built after the city’s founding. Spanning about 1.5 kilometers in length and 10.6 hectares in area, the park features not only scenic landscapes, including a rose garden, but also a host of cultural landmarks such as the Oriental Ceramics Gallery of the Osaka Prefectural Nakanoshima Library, the Osaka Central Public Hall, and the Osaka City Hall. The natural beauty and human-made structures complement each other, making it one of the most beautiful parks in Osaka Prefecture.

Nakanoshima Park is a luxurious recreational space. When it was first built, Osaka’s first beer hall opened within the park. Together with cafes and later high-end restaurants such as the Western-style “Ginshuiso” and the Japanese restaurant “Keiseirou,” it formed one of the city’s premier urban leisure destinations. Additionally, the park offers abundant natural beauty and cultural sights. Its rose garden cultivates around 100 varieties totaling 4,000 roses, which bloom splendidly during their peak seasons in mid-May and mid-October, attracting flower enthusiasts from across Japan.
