Osaka Shochikuza

Osaka Shochikuza is one of Osaka's most renowned theaters showcasing both traditional and modern Japanese stage arts. Originally located in the Namba area of Osaka’s Chuo Ward, it was relocated near Kintetsu “Osaka Uehommachi Station” in late August 2010. Since Kintetsu “Osaka Uehommachi Station” connects major cities in Japan including Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Mie, and Nagoya, the location offers very convenient access for visitors.

Although it is called a Kabuki theater, Osaka Shochikuza stages a wide variety of performances throughout most of the year, such as manzai (comedy), modern plays, dramas, various popular music acts, and dance shows. The monthly programming also varies, with Kabuki performances typically held in May. The interior of the theater is not only exquisitely decorated but also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. Even audience members seated in the back rows can clearly enjoy the performances on stage and hear the performers distinctly, allowing them to fully immerse themselves and enjoy the experience as if they were part of the show.
