The Zhao Shizhuang Fort Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Yanggao County.

The Zhao Shizhuang Fort Site dates back to the Ming Dynasty and is located in Zhao Shizhuang Village, Gucheng Town, Yanggao County.

On December 25, 2018, the Zhao Shizhuang Fort Site was designated as a county-level cultural heritage conservation unit of Yanggao County.

Protected area: bounded by the fortress wall, extending 10 meters outward in all directions. Construction control zone: bounded by the protected area, extending 50 meters outward in all directions.

Gucheng Town: Gucheng Town is situated on the southern side of the central hilly region. It is 30 kilometers from the county seat, covering an area of 65.6 square kilometers. The terrain is predominantly loess hills, which account for 94% of the area. It is the region with the lowest annual rainfall in the county, averaging around 360 mm per year. Coupled with long sunshine hours, high evaporation rates, compacted soil, poor permeability, strong winds, and severe soil erosion, the area suffers from drought in nine out of ten years, with many years passing without a single soaking rain from planting to harvest. Crops struggle through their life cycle like malnourished infants, barely surviving, resulting in consistently low grain yields — before 1965, the yield per mu was only about 30 kilograms.
