Macao Tea Culture House

Macao Tea Culture House is a museum located in Lou Lim Ieoc Garden in the Macao Special Administrative Region, managed by the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao. It systematically showcases the characteristics of tea cultures from both the East and the West, and is the first museum in Macao dedicated exclusively to the subject of tea culture.

The Macao Tea Culture House was designed by architect Carlos Marreiros, with the building reconstructed based on the concept of an original Western-style structure. The architecture features a strong Portuguese-style exterior paired with traditional Chinese-style clay tiles on the roof, highlighting Macao's important role in the historical exchange of tea cultures between the East and the West. The Tea Culture House covers a construction area of 1,076 square meters, with a total of three floors including the basement. The first floor mainly displays a large collection of valuable tea cultural heritage items, such as tea poetry, tea couplets, tea paintings, teahouses, tea shops, tea societies, tea houses, tea pavilions, tea merchants, tea personalities, tea art, and tea customs. The second floor is a space for guests to enjoy tea tasting.

On June 1, 2005, the Macao Tea Culture House was officially inaugurated by three then-chairpersons of the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau—Lau Si Io, Leong Kun Hong, and Szeto Man Yee—along with Mrs. Carlos Marreiros, Ma Siu I, together with Lin Pinyi representing Juzixuan. Since its opening, the Macao Tea Culture House has hosted various forms of exhibitions and tea culture events.
