The former residence of Ye Ting is located at No. 76, Governor Nobre de Carvalho Street, Macao. It was a dowry gift from Ye’s wife Li Xiumei’s father to his daughter. The two-story building features permanent exhibitions including the original layout of the residence, exhibits on Ye’s military achievements, family anecdotes, and the story of the house itself. Between 1931 and 1937, Ye Ting and his wife and children—Zhengda, Zhengming, Zhengguang, Huaming, Yangmei, and Jianmei—lived here for seven years. The furnishings are arranged as they were originally, and the walls are adorned with numerous photos of Ye Ting and his family, including family portraits and outdoor leisure shots, offering a glimpse into the general’s civilian life beyond the battlefield. Also on display are utensils, watches, and other items used by Ye Ting, as well as his writings. A wooden cabinet in one of the rooms displays a collection of spacecraft models and books, donated by Ye’s eldest son, Ye Zhengda, who was an aircraft designer.

After the outbreak of the War of Resistance against Japan, Ye Ting left Macao. In 1938, he was appointed commander of the newly formed Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, which originated from the Red Army. In 1941, tensions between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party led to the Southern Anhui Incident, during which Ye Ting was detained by the Nationalist government and held prisoner for five years. In 1942, Ye’s family left Macao. After the victory of the war, Ye Ting was released and flew from Chongqing to Yan’an in 1946 with his wife and two children. The plane crashed in Shanxi, killing Ye Ting, his wife, and their children. In addition to the Macao residence, the former home of Ye Ting in his birthplace of Huiyang has also been turned into a memorial museum open to the public.
