Macao Historical Archives
The Macao Historical Archives is located on Avenida do Conselheiro Ferreira de Almeida in the Macao Special Administrative Region. It is the official institution responsible for the collection, preservation, analysis, and research of Macao's archival and historical materials.
Established in 1952, the archives mainly collect documents from the Municipal Council, Civil Affairs Bureau, Education and Youth Affairs Bureau, Finance Bureau, Governor's Office, Navy, Macao Rotary Club, Holy House of Mercy, as well as valuable historical materials such as Macao government records in Portuguese, Western antique books, images, and photographs. Additionally, the archives hold over 1,500 microfilm reels containing Chinese correspondence and civil communications exchanged between the Ming and Qing governments and the Macao Portuguese government from 1714 to 1885.
