Avenida do Coronel Mesquita in Macau

Avenida do Coronel Mesquita is located in the central part of the Macau Peninsula, also known as Avenida da Holanda or Rua Central da Holanda. The street runs from northeast to southwest. Its southern end connects with Rua do Campo at the intersection with Avenida da Penha, and its northern end reaches Avenida do General Castelo Branco, making it an important north-south thoroughfare on the Macau Peninsula.

In this area, eight two-story aristocratic-style residences and schools were built between the late 19th century and early 20th century, representing the most iconic architectural complex influenced by Macau’s neoclassical style, collectively known as the "Eight Houses." These eight houses include the present-day Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tap Seac Health Centre, Central Library, Historical Archives, Tap Seac Gallery, and the Ricci Institute, among others.
