Introduction

The Lions Nature Education Centre is located south of Sai Kung, surrounded by lush new woodlands and shaded by green trees. In the low-lying areas of the centre, there are small cultivated plots and farmsteads displaying various crops and plant specimens, as well as garden exhibition areas, an exhibition hall, and other engaging attractions.

Covering an area of approximately 16 hectares, the Lions Nature Education Centre was formerly a government farm. Given its significant conservation value, it was officially designated as the Chiu Keng Special Area in 1987, and subsequently, with sponsorship from the Lions Club, the nature education centre was established in 1991. The Lions Nature Education Centre is dedicated to organizing a variety of nature education, field study, and recreational activities for schools, public and private organizations, and the general public. Visitors can learn about Hong Kong’s natural environment, wildlife, and the development of agriculture, fisheries, and farming through the crops, flora, and fauna exhibited at the centre, and join hands in protecting Hong Kong’s natural surroundings. 1. From Exit C2 of Choi Hung Station on the MTR Tseung Kwan O Line, take Green Minibus Route 1A (departing every 3–5 minutes, about 15-minute ride, fare HK$7.5). The minibus passes through Sai Kung Road and Clear Water Bay Road but does not stop at Pei Hang Road; you may ask the driver for the specific drop-off point. 2. From Exit C2 of Diamond Hill Station on the MTR Tseung Kwan O Line, go to the bus terminus and take Bus 92 to Sai Kung Bus Terminus (40-minute ride, fare HK$5.5), then transfer to Bus 94 to Pei Tam Stop (hourly service, 30-minute ride, fare HK$5.5). 3. On Sundays or public holidays, from Exit C2 of Diamond Hill Station on the MTR Tseung Kwan O Line, go to the bus terminus and take Green Minibus Route 96R, alighting at Pei Tam Stop. Walk towards the direction of the signage to reach the centre (65-minute ride, fare HK$15.6).
